Hopeless, Broken People

Hopeless, Broken People
Just trying to get by,
Praying for a breakthrough,
In the stormy seas of life.
We’re holding on so tightly,
While longing for the shore.
Lost in an endless sea,
Desperate for more.

We’re screaming, drowning people,
Just trying to survive
In this world of pain and hurt,
Of birth and death and life.
The endless, spinning cycles
Of sweat and blood and chore—
We work and cry and watch them die,
Longing for something more.

We’re crying, grieving people.
We mourn for those we’ve lost.
We see them leave
Like flowers fade,
Returning to the dust.
We fight and cry,
But still, they lie—
Death is the highest cost.

We’re crying, hurting people,
With tears that never dry.
Rivers of emotions—
The dark has dimmed our eye.
The currents pull us downward,
We’re losing sight of sky.
The lines of good and evil blur
When all we do is die.

We’re hopeless, broken people,
Struggling to stay afloat,
Drowning under pressure
In a broken, sinking boat.
We’re vessels full of wear and tear,
Of dark and endless days.
Lungs screaming out for air,
We sink beneath the waves.

We’re lost, forgotten people,
Like treasure in the sand.
We’re buried, weak and feeble,
The storm has seized command.
Billows rise and fall around,
Our ship no longer manned.
Waves are crashing down,
We’re searching for dry land.

Drowning, breathless people,
Screaming for the air,
Weighted by our own insecurity,
Heavy shackles to our feet.
Fighting against the current,
We’re drowning in the deep.
Our boats and bridges burnt,
All hope is lost to sea.

Hopeless, broken people,
With salt that stings like tears.
Worry and distress entangle,
Choking out the light.
Underneath the surface,
We’ve lost the will to fight.
When doubt is all we hear,
We’ve given up on life.

We are sinking, dying people,
The sinners and the saints.
We’re crying for redemption,
In bondage and restraints.
Desperate to be set free,
We’re trapped in lies,
Ensnared by life—
Injustice, all we see.

Hopeless, broken people,
We no longer see our way.
The storm of life is winning,
The skies are dark and gray.
Our ship has sunk,
Shattered by the waves.
We can barely breathe,
All hope is lost to sea.

We’re dying, lonely people,
Going through the motions.
Living pulls us under,
Lost to this deep, vast ocean.
We’re sinking ‘neath the depths
Of loneliness and pride.
We’re hopelessly defeated,
With nothing left to guide.

Desperate, broken people,
Just wanting to survive,
Crying out to heaven
For hope beyond this life.
We’re looking for our Savior,
Someone to pull us out,
To lift us from the waters,
To calm our fear and doubt.

We’re tired and lifeless people,
Lost along the way.
We’re drowning in tomorrow
While trapped in yesterday.
Sinking to the bottom
With nowhere else to go,
Exhausted by our living,
Awaiting death’s final blow.

We’re aging, lonely people,
Who can’t stop the march of time.
It pushes ever onward,
Its own ticking paradigm.
We watch the world keep spinning,
We see through dimming eyes—
Life begins while others end,
The seasons of this life.

Searching, desperate people,
We’re praying for our Maker,
Someone to raise us up.
We’re looking for our Father,
Someone to take our cup.
He sent His Son to save,
His very life the price.
In death, new life He gave.

Once lost, yet newfound people,
Created out of clay.
Our Savior came to rescue,
We’ve seen the light of day.
He raised us out of murky waters,
To lead us in the way.
He calls us sons and daughters—
He is our hope and stay.

We’re loving, hopeful people,
Whose trust is in our God.
He saved us from our sin,
Our lives no longer flawed.
He raised us again,
The storm has calmed,
The winds obeyed
The still, small voice of God.

We’re knowing, hopeful people,
Not lost in yesterday.
Our past—forgiven,
We bravely face today.
He lifted us from the waters,
He wiped away our sorrow.
Our sins—forgotten,
He gives us strength for each tomorrow.

We’re living, breathing people,
Whose hope is in the Lord.
We’ve searched and found,
We knocked, He answered.
We made a plea to God—
He’s saved us by His love.
Our lives were going under,
He lifted us above.

We’re loving, hopeful people,
We raise our battle cry.
Our trust is in our Lord,
Who reigns with God on high.
We lift our voice and sing,
His praise is on our lips.
He’s defeated death’s own sting,
He rebuilt our broken ships.

We’re sailing onward people,
He calmed our stormy seas.
Our oceans of desperation—
He heard our broken pleas.
The weight of our own failure—
Forgiven, now forever.
Our Savior, God Almighty—
Our hope is in the Lord.

We’re praying, joyful people,
Though trouble still surrounds us,
Our hearts are now unfurled.
Our eyes are looking upward—
He has overcome this world.
He is our hope and stay.
He is our rock of refuge.
We’re sailing on today.
